i thought they were rayguns that would shoot at your car if you went past them, kind of like the 1st trial to see the oracle in "the neverending story." it may also have been that the signs are shaped like triangles pointing at the road. very intimidating.

i hated my father, for no real reason except i was a jerky little kid, but even i had to grudgingly admit that he was kind of awesome becuase he always made it past those signs without getting us disintegrated.

it's weird what sticks with you when you get older. i don't remember much from being a kid, but what i do remember indicates what a little moron i was.
