today is a good day to drive to los angeles,
and a good day to keep the windows rolled down,
and throw a frisbee.
the ladies all wear tank-tops on days like today,
and we walk everywhere, reminded that our legs are for more than just pushing pedals,
and strangers smile, squinting in the sun,
(key light: everywhere) today is a good day to drive to los angeles, the wide open and lonely country in between— from boston, everything is southwest, and perfect perhaps an altered state of mind, the road drifts down there, but I never lose it, safe, always, with the silent highway beneath me today was a good day to drive to los angeles, to the sun, the sand, the smog— one for the road, a toast then, to a new perspective, and if “the west is the best,” then I guess that makes the east the beast— today was a good day. today was los angeles. |
